Frequently asked questions
Is Verke a replacement for therapy?
▼
No. Verke is an AI coaching product — a self-help tool that draws on evidence-based methods therapists use (CBT, PDT, ACT, EFT, CFT, NVC). It is not clinical care, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for a licensed professional. If you are in crisis or managing a complex condition, see a clinician.
How does Verke compare to Wysa, BetterHelp, or Replika?
▼
Verke offers five specialist coaches, voice coaching, and 55 localized languages, with an ongoing Stockholm University RCT. Wysa is a free-tier CBT bot with FDA Breakthrough Device Designation. BetterHelp is licensed human therapy at $240–$400/month. Replika is a companion bot, not a coach. See our head-to-head comparisons for each.
Is AI coaching safe?
▼
Verke is designed for everyday stress, relationships, mood, and personal growth — not crisis care. Conversations are end-to-end encrypted and you can be fully anonymous. AI coaching has known limits with complex or clinical presentations. If you're in crisis, call 988 (US), 116 123 (UK/EU Samaritans), or visit findahelpline.com.
Does Verke use CBT and psychodynamic therapy?
▼
Yes. Verke's coaches are trained on six evidence-based approaches: cognitive-behavioral (CBT), psychodynamic (PDT), acceptance and commitment (ACT), emotionally focused (EFT), compassion-focused (CFT), and nonviolent communication (NVC). Each coach specializes in a different style — so you can pick the approach that matches how you want to work.
Can I use Verke anonymously?
▼
Yes. Verke does not require an email address, phone number, or real name. Your conversations are encrypted with a key stored only on your device, which means only you can ever read them. You can also delete your history at any time. Anonymity is a first-class design choice, not an afterthought.
How much time does Verke take?
▼
Most people get real value from fifteen minutes every day or two — consistency matters more than length. Verke fits between tasks: a quick check-in on the commute, a voice call on a walk, a longer session in the evening. You steer the pace; scheduled sessions are optional, not required.
Can my partner and I both use Verke?
▼
Yes. Marie is Verke's relationships coach, designed for couples. One partner starts the conversation; when ready, the other joins the same chat. Marie makes sure both perspectives are heard equally and uses Emotionally Focused Therapy principles to move conversations out of cycles and toward connection. Either partner can speak privately too.
What happens after my free trial?
▼
After the 7-day trial (up to 60 messages), you can continue on Basic at $1.99/week, Premium at $4.99/week, or Complete at $7.99/week (annual pricing available). Cancel anytime from your account settings — no commitment, no email required for signup, and no penalty. Your conversations and history stay with you.
Does Verke work in my language?
▼
Verke ships in 55 localized languages for the app UI, and its coaches converse naturally in your language. Language support includes English, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi, French, German, Swedish, Portuguese, and 46 others. If your language is supported by the app, the coach conversation will feel native, not translated.
Is there a study of Verke's coaches?
▼
Yes. Two Verke coaches — Anna (psychodynamic) and Judith (cognitive-behavioral) — are being evaluated in an ongoing three-arm randomized controlled trial of 90 participants at Stockholm University, supervised by Professor Per Carlbring. The study runs through December 2027; primary-outcome results will be published at that point. See our research page for details.
